Extraordinary Productions recently styled a Tommy Bahama surfing themed Bar Mitzvah. Their unique inspiration board was elegant with beachy vibes, exactly what this Bar Mitzvah boy and his family wanted! Extraordinary Productions, and the amazing vendor team, created a SoCal vibe in New Jersey.
The venue was The Crystal Plaza in Livingston, New Jersey, and the photographer was Andy Foster.
In the teen lounge there was a Tiki Bar which was a big hit! The shaka sign which means "hang loose" in the surfing community, was used on branding elements throughout the room
The view from above shows the hip teen lounge with white modern furniture including: metal chairs, bars and coffee tables, adding a masculine touch to this Tommy Bahama inspired décor
This surf board table was a big hit
In the ballroom there were dramatic floor-to-ceiling white draping with blue and green up-lighting. Shaka Gobos were projected with the logo
For adults, there were alternating illuminated square tables and custom rectangular wood tables. The wood tables were made exclusively for this party
The centerpieces included limes, white star fish and elephant ears
Julie Maloof Designs created the custom invitation and branded the party with the shaka sign
The color palette of blue and green set the tone with the custom place cards
We thank Phyllis Skolnick of Extraordinary Productions for sharing this great Bar Mitzvah with our readers.

The Needleman family from Short Hills, New Jersey, celebrated their daughter Julia’s Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, March 19, 2016, with a service at Temple B’nai Jeshurun followed by an afternoon party at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, New Jersey.
Julia knew exactly what she wanted for her theme – “got julia?” a play on the “got milk?” campaign. For this Bat Mitzvah girl with many interests, it worked perfectly!
Pictured left: Dad David, Bat Mitzvah girl Julia and Mom Ann.
At Home Studios provided the photography and the rest of the vendors are listed at the bottom of this story.
Invitation, Service & Mitzvah Style
The teal invitation with silver glitter was designed by Custom Parties by Bobbie Lonsk. Debbie's Designs mounted Julia's invitation to display at her service
Julia at her Bat MItzvah service
After her service, Julia quickly changed into her party dress from Red Carpet
Once the party started, Julia slipped into her custom sneakers by SWAK (https://mitzvahmarket.com/mitzvah-spotlight/family/a-got-julia-bat-mitzvah-theme/)
Decor and Details
Debbie’s Designs created the decor, centerpieces, sign-in, place cards/buddy board and candle lighting.
Julia's friends found their table assignments listed on the themed Buddy Board, entitled: "got seats?"
Adults found their dual purpose place cards on a table in the lobby of the Crystal Plaza
Adults received a "got julia?" mirror with their seating assignment on an inside sticker
A large oversized mirror served as the sign-in board
The Crystal Plaza ballroom was converted into a "got julia?" theme
The adult tables featured the logo and the color palette of teal and hot pink
Each of the centerpieces on the kids' tables represented Julia's favorite things. This one, for example, represented her love of summer camp, Kennybrook

Music Entertainment

Julia's friends had a blast
Fashion Statement: Bat Mitzvah girl Julia wore an aqua Terani
Couture party dress with a sweetheart neckline, a crystal-
embellished bodice, and a tulle bottom
Favors
Julia’s friends received long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts.
Drawstring bags were ready for Julia's friends
The t-shirts had Julia's logo on the back
Her Bat Mitzvah date was printed on the sleeve
Mitzvah Project
Julia loves animals and wanted to make bedding/blankets for animals in shelters. She chose St. Hubert’s in Madison, New Jersey, and she thought it would be great to recycle as well, so she asked for donations of t-shirts. She stuffed them and hot-glued them together to make soft blankets for the dogs/cats in the shelter.

Some of the pillows made from donated t-shirts for the shelter
Mom to Mom Advice From Ann
“Be organized. I almost missed a payment deadline because I wasn’t checking all the dates. They were very good about it and it wasn’t a problem. I tried to research as much as I could before selecting vendors and once chosen, I stopped reading about them because I didn’t want to second guess myself.”
