The Gruber family from Dix Hills, New York, celebrated their daughter Bari’s Bat Mitzvah aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. This “BoatMitzvah was celebrated by 50 family and friends including their Rabbi and twelve of Bari’s camp and school friends from February 13-20, 2016, during a school break. Mom Ruth, along with friend Tracy Kleinberg, created a laminated itinerary book with daily party information and had them printed at Staples.

The BoatMitzvah Service

The Bat Mitzvah service was on the ship followed by a fabulous day at the beach.

Bat Mitzvah Style

Bari needed many different outfits since this was a 7-night cruise with a celebration every night! Bari and her younger sister Charlie’s dresses were bought at 2 Be Seen.

 Decor, Favors & Fun Excursions

Everything was coordinated with the help of travel agent Joan Hyman at Lynx International. Party favors and giveaways by The Coolest Giveaways and Sign-In letter “B” by That One Special Touch.

Bari’s Mitzvah Project

Bari participated and donated on a weekly basis to multiple charities including the Israel Tennis Centers which forms bonds between Jewish and Arab children. Additionally, she was involved with Blessings in a Backpack an organization that provides food for children in Bari’s school who are at risk of hunger. Bari also donates to Camp Sunshine which provides an opportunity for children with terminal illnesses to experience sleep away camp in Maine. There are so many worthwhile charities that Bat Mitzvah girl Bari could not just pick one to support!

Mom to Mom Advice from Mom Ruth

“Bari’s Bat Mitzvah on the Oasis of the Seas was a huge success. People said we were crazy for doing this but we and our extended family can’t wait to do it again for our younger daughter, Charlie!”

A “got julia?” Bat Mitzvah Theme

The Needleman family from Short Hills, New Jersey, celebrated their daughter Julia’s Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, March 19, 2016, with a service at Temple B’nai Jeshurun followed by an afternoon party at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, New Jersey.

Julia knew exactly what she wanted for her theme – “got julia?” a play on the “got milk?” campaign. For this Bat Mitzvah girl with many interests, it worked perfectly!

Favors

Julia’s friends received long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts.

Mitzvah Project

Julia loves animals and wanted to make bedding/blankets for animals in shelters. She chose St. Hubert’s in Madison, New Jersey, and she thought it would be great to recycle as well, so she asked for donations of t-shirts. She stuffed them and hot-glued them together to make soft blankets for the dogs/cats in the shelter.

Mom to Mom Advice From Ann

“Be organized. I almost missed a payment deadline because I wasn’t checking all the dates. They were very good about it and it wasn’t a problem. I tried to research as much as I could before selecting vendors and once chosen, I stopped reading about them because I didn’t want to second guess myself.”

Rent it. Rock it. Return it. From Charlotte’s Closet For Bat Mitzvah Dresses

Looking good can be expensive especially for tweens and teens during the Bar Bat Mitzvah year when they are “on the circuit.”

Charlotte’s Closet, is the top tween/teen spot to rent designer dresses for up to 75% off their original price.

Similar to the popular Rent the Runway Website for designer party fashions for women, Charlotte’s Closet has a great selection of Bat Mitzvah, prom, sweet sixteen and guest on-trend dresses your daughter will scream over; and moms and dads will love the price!

Here’s how it works:
Visit www.charlottes-closet.com to view the wide selection of designer dresses. Search by color, size, style or occasion.

Once you find a dress or two or three, select one size. (Charlotte’s Closet sends a second size as back up for no extra charge.) Enter the party date and the dress will be delivered the week of the event.

When you’re ready to ship the dress back, simply attach the pre-paid UPS return label provided in the original box and ship it back. No dry cleaning or waiting in line at the post office!

The styles, designers and glamour are endless and constantly changing with dresses from popular brands like: Milano Formals, Mon Cheri, Blush, Dave & Johnny, Hannah S, Tiffany, Un Deux Trois, Stella M’lia, French Connection, Nicole Miller, Jay Godfrey plus many more!

The bonus? You can visit their Port Washington showroom to try on a bunch of dresses and reserve up to six months before the big event.

Here are a few selections with pricing:
