The Silver family from Suffern, New York, celebrated daughter Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah. The service and party were both held at the Royal Manor, an event venue in Garfield, New Jersey.
The logo was a hashtag #allaboutalexa with accents of purple throughout and many creative DIY touches.
Pictured L-R: Brother Jake, Mom Alissa, Bat Mitzvah girl Alexa and Dad Daniel in front of the logo’d Step-N-Repeat from Magic Moments.
The photographer was Magic Moments and the rest of the vendor information is listed at the end of the spotlight.

The family worked with With Luv Design on Etsy.com. The silver invitation had purple sparkle around the border and purple rhinestone dotting the “i” in Gabrielle. The reply card was a acrostic poem setting the tone for the day to be all about Alexa

The Royal Manor provided a room where the beautiful service was held.
Alexa with her parents at the bimah ready for her service to begin

Mom Alissa is quite creative and came up with many of the details herself including decorating the kippot basket

Elegant Balloons created the decor, centerpieces and balloons in shades of purple which made the room very festive. The purple up-lighting created an inviting ambiance

Sparkle ribbon and party dots added sparkle to the centerpieces on the high top tables in the kids lounge to create a club look
Large balloons with LED lights served as the centerpieces

Alexa’s logo, created by graphic designer Amy Wohl of FabuDesigns.com, looked great as a Gobo on the dance floor

Mom Alissa knew she wanted a gift card box so that the cards Alexa received could all be kept in one place, so she made this pretty gift card box and has since turned this ‘hobby’ into a little business. The two-tiered square card box looked perfect with a bow and sparkle

A custom menu card was at each table setting

Elegant Balloons created the blinged out sign-in board.

Alexa makes her entrance

She’s up in the chair for the horah

MC Pete and the Magic Moments entertainment crew kept guests on the dance floor all night. All of the guests got involved in the action on the dance floor

Mom Alissa found Name with Flame on Etsy.com to create the custom candle lighting display. The script lettering was in purple glitter.

Using her logo, MazelTovGear made the comfy hooded sweatshirts. The sweatshirt lettering was purple for girls and the silver for the boys

Kids received purple cotton candy to match the theme color. Adults received Hershey Kiss pouches that were placed on each car’s dashboard; a nice surprise from the Silver family to their guests. For the water bottles, Mom Alissa found an idea on Pinterest. She bought duct tape in this fun print and decorated each water bottle. She also made the Hershey Kiss pouches
In support of the American Cancer Society, Alexa wrapped presents during the holiday season at the Palisades Mall, West Nyack, New York.
Some advice from Mom Alissa:
“My best advice is to start early. Once the invitations were ordered, I knew the date would be approaching soon. I did as much as I could ahead of time so I could take care of any little things that came up. I am pretty crafty so I decided that whatever I could do myself, I would. I spent many nights online looking for ideas. Working off the logo that was created, I made the labels for the sweatshirts using the extra glitter card stock I was given from the invitations together with tulle using black for the boys and purple for the girls. There was no greater pleasure then really getting involved in making all of these things for my daughter and seeing them throughout the party. “

Amanda and Ryan Caress (pictured left) will be celebrating their B’nai Mitzvah December, 2015, in New York City and have been hard at work on their Mitzvah Project.
They have worked together on various fundraisers to raise over $2,000 for an organization dear to their hearts, www.DebbiesDream.org.
We asked them some questions to learn more about their Mitzvah Project which is raising money and awareness for this organization.
MM: Can you give us details of your B’nai Mitzvah Project?
Amanda & Ryan: Our goal was to raise money and awareness about stomach cancer specifically for www.DebbiesDream.org, which was started by our Aunt Debbie. We have organized multiple promotions for Lemonade stands and are selling tickets to a NYC event, Night of Laughter.
MM: Why did you decide to take on this particular project?
Amanda & Ryan: We took on this project because it is a cause that touches home for us as our Aunt has stage 4 stomach cancer and started this organization.
MM: Does your Mitzvah Project have a start and end date, if so what are they?
Amanda & Ryan: We focused on two fundraisers, the first was an all-day lemonade stand and for the second one, we are involved in the planning of the NYC event, Night of Laughter at the Gotham Comedy Club.

Ryan working the booth
In your own words, what does it mean to you to do a Mitzvah Project for your B’nai Mitzvah?
Amanda & Ryan: We couldn’t think of a more meaningful B’nai Mitzvah Project than raising money and donating our time to our Aunt Debbie’s charity. We have found it very rewarding to dedicate our time to helping others. We have done many fundraisers, lemonade stands, shopping events and are helping to run and promote the NYC Night of Laughter benefiting stomach cancer.

Amanda baking the cookies they sold
If it involves a donation, what are you doing to spread the word?
Amanda & Ryan: For our second fundraiser, the NYC Night of Laughter, we have helped spread the word by giving out flyers, sending emails and advertising on various social media sites.

Flyer promoting Night of Laughter
How long can people donate to this charity?
Amanda & Ryan: Feel free to donate directly to the charity www.DebbiesDream.org and indicate it’s in honor of Amanda & Ryan’s B’nai Mitzvah Project.
Anything else we should know about your B’nai Mitzvah Project?
Amanda & Ryan: We know how difficult it is to live with cancer. We hope our efforts inspire others. We have been raising money for this charity for years and will continue to do so in the future.
We thank Amanda & Ryan for sharing their Mitzvah Project with our readers. If you are interested in making a donation, please visit www.DebbiesDream.org.

Balloon Artistry is a full-service Bar Bat Mitzvah party decorating company, famous for transforming parties into magical, unforgettable memories. Balloon Artistry’s legendary balloon creations, personalized themes and breathtaking centerpieces capture the exact mood you desire. Their experienced staff will make your party room feel fun, festive and youthful. They create an environment for your party that will put a smile on your face and make your guests excited to celebrate with you and your family.
Mitzvah Market sat down with Shaina from Balloon Artistry to learn how they design logos for Bar Bat Mitzvah themes:
MM: Please tell us about your logo designs and Bar Bat Mitzvah themes.
BA: Many Bar & Bat Mitzvah kids don’t have specific interests that they want to feature at their party. To remove the pressure of coming up with a theme, we create a customized logo using their initials, names, dates & colors and focus the decor on that design. Logos are a trendy, modern way to pull the entire “look” of the child’s Bar Bat Mitzvah together. It’s basically “branding” your child in every aspect of the decor.
MM: What is the process for creating a logo?
BA: We have hundreds of logos we’ve designed, as well as a library of ideas that we use for inspiration. When the Bar Bat Mitzvah child chooses a style/design they are drawn to, we start the design process. We review fonts, colors and layouts to customize the logo specifically for that child. One of our customers’ favorite things about using us to design their logo is that we invite them to come into our office to design with us. They get to see the process first hand — they watch us work, they ask questions, offer suggestions and see all of our color choices at once.

MM: How do you incorporate the final Bar Bat Mitzvah logo into the party decor?
BA: We use the logo on everything from party favors, centerpieces, place cards to sign-in boards and room signage. We usually design secondary logos, so the look of the theme doesn’t get too repetitive. For different areas of the party, will use two versions of a logo that work well together.

About Carrie Berk
I’m an 8th grade Bar & Bat Mitzvah teen blogger for MitzvahMarket.com and live on the Upper East Side in NYC. I love fashion, soul cycle, theater, hanging out with friends, and cupcakes (I have a blog about them: www.facebook.com/PLCCupcakeClub). My bat mitzvah project is for my dance teacher and friend, Elizabeth Maria Walsh, who died of a rare form of cancer at just 26 years old. Direct message me on Instagram (@carrieberkk) for information on how to donate, and follow me for more fun Bat Mitzvah photos!
Recently, I attended the Bat Mitzvah of one of my best friends, Stella Solit.

Stella and Carrie
Everything at the event had Stella’s stamp on it—literally! From the décor to the donut carts, it was super cool and creative, just like her. The Bat Mitzvah was all about personalization. Stella wanted her friends and family to be able to enjoy whatever they liked, so everything was customized. During cocktail hour, we got to choose our own slushies. They gave us cups and we picked whatever flavor we liked. We even got a slushie maker to take home with us!

As the cocktail hour transformed into the reception, Stella got really creative allowing her guests to create customized sodas. Since Stella used to dance, each bottle had pictures of her busting some moves on them. The flavors were dance-themed as well: “Kickin’ Red Cream” and “Leapin’ Berry Blue.”

You could also customize bracelets or checkers. Stella wrote on her own bracelet, “Core Four” for her group of four besties.

Stella’s dress was custom-made with a removable long over-skirt so that when it was time to dance, she could take it off and reveal a shorter skirt that was easier to move in. Genius!

Instead of a regular dinner menu, it was breakfast as dinner! My friends and I were fighting to get to the front of the line first so we could dig into the Belgian waffles! They were soooo good!
While that was going on, people wheeled donut carts around the dance floor. They had different flavored syringes that you could use to fill the donut. I’m not a jelly donut person, but Bavarian cream? Chocolate fudge? Yes, please!

Stella, with the girls who pushed the donut cart
At the end of the night, we got the most amazing favor: a photoscope containing a picture we took with Stella inside it. It was a really creative way of taking a photo home with us.

Stella also gave out gray sweatpants that said, “Xoxo, Stella” in pink on the front and had a pink kiss on the back.

My favorite take-home treat was cereal! Stella had a huge cereal bar so you could pick and pack up our faves as we exited. I packed up a container of Frosted Flakes and marshmallow Lucky Charms with a small bottle of milk. And guess what I had for breakfast the next morning?

Stella’s Bat Mitzvah was a night to remember because of its creativity. She made each and every guest feel so special and welcome.

“I Want Candy!” That’s what Brianna Zeiberg said when asked what theme she wanted for her Bat Mitzvah celebration.
The Zeiberg famliy of Westport, Connecticut, celebrated daughter Brianna’s Bat Mitzvah at Temple Shalom with a Havdalah service and a reception immediately following at Mora Mora in Norwalk, Connecticut.
“B Sweet” was the perfect theme for this “candy-obsessed” Bat Mitzvah girl. Guests enjoyed an evening of bright and beautiful colors and candy.
Pictured: Mom Charlene, Sister Shira, Bat Mitzvah girl Brianna and Dad Adam.
James Grout Photography was the photographer and the rest of the vendor information is listed at the bottom of this story.

Her zebra-striped invitation, from Alpine Creative Group, had brightly colored accents and a big “B” set the tone for fun. Notice the colorful gumballs (a hint of her theme!) on the postage stamp from Zazzle!

The Havdalah service took place at Temple Shalom in Norwalk, Connecticut. Brianna did a beautiful job reading from the torah. She wore her late maternal grandfather’s tallis during her Torah portion and later wore a tallis given to her by her paternal grandfather for her havtorah

Brianna’s Mitzvah Style was all about pink! She wore a gorgeous bubble gum pink gown from A Step Ahead with just the right amount of bedazzle to let everyone know that this was her party. Mom Charlene looked beautiful in her dress, also from A Step Ahead

Brianna, pretty in pink, ready for her party

The “B Sweet” logo, with hot pink and bright blue text in a candy wrapper graphic, sweetened the room with special décor touches. Graphic designer, Dee Dee Hamm, added “Bri,” short for Brianna, to the logo to make it extra special

A “Bri Sweet” sign made of Candy Buttons

Guests felt like a “kid in a candy store” with colorful candy at every corner of the room. Walls were decorated with wonderful posters of Brianna in fun poses

Donuts – yum!

Many other fun, creative poses with candy!

Place cards hung from pretty ribbon

Custom place cards with various signature photos of Brianna from her pre-Bat Mitzvah shoot. Guests found their tables by matching the picture on their place card with the photo on each table

Spectacular colors really lit up the room

Colorful tables included candy and candles matching the table color.
The chairs were decorated with matching ribbon to pull it all together

Floating candles and decorative glass containers filled with candy were on each table

Adorable logo’d napkin rings

Brianna’s sign-in board featured her “Bri Sweet” logo in a white matted sign-able frame. Family and friends enjoyed writing meaningful Mazel Tov messages with color sharpies that hung from pretty ribbon

Starlight Express was the music entertainment and the DJ and MC kept the party going all night. Brianna waved to guests as she was escorted by a dancer to the song, I Want Candy!

Mom Charlene and Dad Adam made their grand entrance

Brianna’s friends had tons of fun on the dance floor!

The MC had great dance floor giveaways of giant candy

Mom Charlene found a vendor on Etsy.com to create the candle lighting display

One of the highlights of the evening was the candy bar, a “Bri Sweet” table with jars upon jars overflowing with colorful candy of all kinds. Fun Dip was served on trays

Brianna’s friends love the candy bar

Glass containers of all sizes added to the look

Proforma K Print Solutions created logo’d pinnies, shorts and drawstring bags for Bri’s friends. Girls received a pinny, bag, hairband formed into a lollipop and Baked by Melissa cupcakes and the boys received shorts, a bag, an iTunes giftcard and Baked by Melissa cupcakes
Mitzvah Project
Bri has been fundraising for The Humane Society of the United States since she was seven and has raised approximately $9,000 from her charity-based birthday parties. Also, Bri is a teen ambassador for the Meatless Monday organization, raising awareness on why to reduce the consumption of meat. She successfully worked closely with two Fairfield, Connecticut restaurants.

Each year we tally up the latest trends from the red carpet and give you the must-haves for the year’s Bar Bat Mitzvah fashion.
This year, we profiled nine girls and boys who recently had their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and asked them what they wore, why they wore it, and how it made them feel.

Who: Chloe Cornell
Where: Old Oaks Country Club, Purchase, NY.
Theme: Since Chloe’s initials are CC, and she loves fashion, her theme was
“Chanel.”
Dress Inspiration: “Keira Knightly in her wedding dress; a white tulle
strapless dress with an A line skirt to the knee designed by Karl Lagerfeld.”
Personal Touch: Chloe added a rhinestone and pearl belt to add a little
sparkle and “Chanel” detail.
In Her Shoes: For the service, Chloe wore white flats with a black tip and
pearls on the heel. For the party, she changed into white sneakers with
flower cut outs.
Jewelry: In honor of her Bat Mitzvah, her parents gave Chloe a gold bracelet.
Family Matters: The party colors were black and white with gold accents so
mom Kim wore a black gown; Chloe’s dad and brother wore black suits,
white shirts and black and white striped ties.

Who: Sydney Cohn
Where: Basking Ridge Country Club in Basking Ridge, NJ.
Fashion Statement: An ivory party dress with a jeweled
bodice by Terani Couture from It’s Simply For You.
Theme: The budding fashionista chose a high heel theme
in black, white, hot pink, and lime.
Footwear: For pictures, Sydney wore a pair of Vince Camuto silver YSL Tribute inspired shoes. She then changed into Ash silver
glitter sneakers for the party.
Sentimental Jewelry: A Tiffany diamond solitaire
necklace, which was one of the favorite gifts she
received.
Family Matters: Mom Lori wore a jumpsuit at the nighttime kids’ party, while dad carried the theme in a pink and white shirt. Sydney’s little sister wore a hot pink leather dress to celebrate her sister’s big day.

Who: Mason Gruber
Where: Temple Isaiah in Stonybrook, NY, for the service and Temple
Chavarim for the party.
Theme: “Mason Nation,” incorporating his and his dad’s love of the Pittsburgh
Steelers.
Cool Couture: A classic black tuxedo was paired with a yellow tie, a nod to
the Steeler colors. Black dress shoes completed the look.
Fan Out: “My best friend gave me a Steelers bow tie that I changed into for
the party.”
Family Matters: All of the men in Mason’s family wore black tuxedos and
yellow ties, including his dad, grandpa, great uncle, uncle and cousin. Mom
Beth wore head to toe black.

Who: Molly Steinberg
Where: A Havdalah service and party were held at Club Infinity in Purchase,
NY.
Theme: The family took their late October date and cleverly wove Molly’s
name into the theme to make “Molloween.”
Fashion Statement: Molly’s whimsical white and ice blue ball gown was
custom made and ordered online, sight unseen. Long gloves, small diamond
studs, and a crystal tiara completed the look.
Something Borrowed: To make the day even more special, Mom Lainee gave
her daughter a pendant to wear for the occasion, which she wore on a satin
blue ribbon.
Sole Mates: Instead of heels, Molly wore white converse high tops. “We
handed out monster-slippers during the party for everyone. It was a huge hit
and very comfortable.”
Dress Code: Costume attire preferred, and 99% of the guests dressed up!
Celebrity Inspiration: “We researched every celebrity Halloween party we
could and took elements from each.”

Who: Sarah Cassuto
Where: Temple Sholom in Greenwich, CT, and party at Club Infinity in
Purchase, NY.
Fashion Statement: Sarah chose a light blue ball gown with a jeweled bodice
that complimented her red hair. “The dress just made me feel happy.”
Theme: “Camp Sarah,” since Sarah is a camper at Nock-a-Mixon, and the
date was a week before camp started.
Fancy Feet: Sparkly silver high tops kept Sarah’s feet comfy all night.
Family Matters: Sarah’s dad and brother wore black suits, while mom Wendi
wore a floor length halter ball gown.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire.
Fun Fact: The light blue and purple invitations (handmade by Sarah’s aunt
and mom) matched the blue of Sarah’s dress

Who: Isabella Goldberg
Where: Her service was at Temple Beth Am in Merrick, NY, and the party
was at Love Club in Carle Place, NY.
Tasty Theme: Because Bella loves to bake cupcakes, the family drew
inspiration from Baked by Melissa and created “Baked by Bella.”
Best Dressed: The pink ombre gown was a reflection of her personality
— beautiful, vibrant, and happy. The color was so striking that the “Baked by
Bella” logo was created to match her dress from It’s Simply For You.
Treasured Gift: A white gold Hamsa/Star of David necklace given to her by
her grandparents as a Bat Mitzvah present.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire.
DIY Shoes: Bella wore one-of-a-kind bedazzled shoes that she created
herself.
Fashion inspiration: “Julie Chen, Big Brother, baby!”
Photo Credit: Kenneth Pierce from Starlight Express/Double G

Who: Ethan Berman
Where: Temple Emanu-El of Westfield, NJ, and Crystal Plaza, Livingston, NJ.
Theme: In lieu of a candle lighting, Ethan was the host of the night, complete
with an opening monologue for the “13th Annual Ethan Awards.”
The Modern Suit: “It was a three-piece metallic black suit from Sams in
Livingston, NJ, similar to the kind of suit someone would wear while hosting an
awards show. It really stood out.”
Family Matters: Mom Shari wore a metallic gown, while Ethan’s brother
wore a black velvet blazer along with a shirt and coordinating socks that
reflected his colorful personality. Dad wore a black suit with a blue dress
shirt that complemented Ethan’s, while his younger sister wore a
custom-made blue dress. His 3 year old brother may have had the best
red carpet look of all, in a black three-piece suit complete with a monkey tie.
“He definitely rocked it,” says Ethan.
Photo Credit: Sarah Merians Photography & Video Company

Who: Dylan Maskell
Where: Service was held at North Shore Synagogue in Syosset, NY; party
was at Temple Sinai in Roslyn, NY.
Theme: Since Dylan is a dancer and a gymnast, she chose the theme
“Dancing Past Midnight” which matched her initials, DPM.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire.
Color Coordination: The room was decked out in black, silver and teal and
Dylan’s white party dress from It’s Simply For You, featured teal accents
which continued the theme.
Let’s Accessorize: Dylan danced all night in silver sneakers, and teal and
silver bracelets accented her dress.
Red Carpet Moment: “There was a moment getting dressed when the bow in
the back of my dress was tied and I felt like a princess,” she says. “I knew that
minute that the rest of the night would be amazing!”
Photo Credit: Hi Tech Photography Events

Who: Riley Maskell (sister of Dylan)
Where: North Shore Synagogue in Syosset, NY, and the party was at Temple Sinai in Roslyn, NY.
Theme: To complement her initials RM, Riley chose
“Reach for the Moon.”
Fashion Statement: A teal blue ball gown with a jeweled
bodice coordinated with the party room. “The dress and
decor was a total personality match; lots of bling with a
lot of elegance!”
Accessories By Mom: One of Riley’s favorite gifts was
the hand-stoned high heeled converse shoes with
colored laces.
Fashion Disaster: “My dress wouldn’t stay up!,” says Riley. “I tried everything from making it tighter to even using fashion tape, but because we were dancing and sweating, the tape just slid off the dress and stuck to my skin. I just held it up with one hand and didn’t stop dancing all night long!

Many Bar Bat Mitzvah children make some type of grand entrance into their celebration. We have seen children enter on surfboards, golf carts, hockey skates, bicycles, couches, chairs and much more! Check out our Best Of…Bar Bat Mitzvah Entrance story here.
We wanted to share a magical entrance performed by award-winning illusionist, Eric Wilzig.
After performing at hundreds of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs across the country, Eric realized how much time, energy, and sometimes money, goes into creating a memorable “grand entrance” for the Bar Mitzvah boy and/or Bat Mitzvah girl at their celebration.
He wanted to create and offer a magical grand entrance where the Bar or Bat Mitzvah boy or girl would magically appear.

In the past 6 months, The Extreme Magic of Eric has made over 15 Bar and Bat Mitzvah kids appear from a cage of fire, surrounded by their guests, for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah entrance

Watch this video taken at the St. Regis Hotel in NYC and see how it’s done here!
It’s 100% safe and can even be done with little or no fire if the venue doesn’t allow it, and it can be performed anywhere.
For this Magicial Entrance Illusion, all that’s needed is 5 minutes of rehearsal with the Bar or Bat Mitzvah boy or girl.
