Lisa Ivler, of Lisa Ivler Events, recently planned a FRIENDS themed Bat Mitzvah at Lulus in the W Hotel in Hoboken, New Jersey. Bat Mitzvah girl Shira may have been born after the iconic television series went off the air, but thanks to Netflix, she and her friends are, in one word– obsessed! This creative Bat Mitzvah theme featured the show’s famous Central Perk coffee house, funny character quotes and purple and yellow color scheme. Robin Hammer Design worked with Lisa to re-envision graphics and logos from the show. Flower Power Designs created tons of custom decor including decals, pillows, tables and photos, along with beautiful flowers, to bring this theme to life.
Shira's logo, created by Robin Hammer Designs, was inspired by the coffee house where the show's characters gathered
An oversized sign, using graphics and fonts reminiscent of the TV show, stood in front of the DJ booth
Shira's Bat Mitzvah cake featured Central Perk, the show's signature colors... and that classic FRIENDS picture frame
Mitzvah girl Shira was pretty in purple
Sparkly grey linens and 36 feet of flowers, by Flower Power Designs, dressed up the adult table
Beautiful pillows and tables wrapped in famous FRIENDS quotes created a space for guests to chill
A custom decal welcomed guests to the party
Shira's photo looked great inside the quintessential FRIENDS picture frame
Colorful votives and bright flowers filled coffee mugs with Shira's Mitzvah logo
Famous quotes from FRIENDS characters created unique decor
For the candle lighting ceremony, Shira's logo was wrapped around large glass vases
A FRIENDS step-and-repeat made a great backdrop for photos with, you guessed it, Shira's friends!
More quotes and custom event decor by Flower Power Designs
Custom water bottles with Shira's logo
Party favors also featured FRIENDS quotes

When it came to planning daughter Lucy’s Bat Mitzvah, Julie Ugar, co-founder and Design Director at Flair Event Design + Planning in San Francisco, CA, knew it had to be totally unique. Experts at creating one-of-a-kind Bar and Bat Mitzvahs for their clients, Julie and her business partner, Jamie Rose, focused on Lucy’s love of Disneyland’s Main Street, summers spent on the boardwalk in Santa Cruz, and a quirky dose of Americana. The result was a vibrant beach boardwalk vibe… in the middle of winter!
At the Presidio Log Cabin in San Francisco, fabric swags lined the ceiling of the Bat Mitzvah room evoking the feeling of a carnival. The event space was decorated with wide cabana stripes, oversized carnival tickets, pinwheels and fabric pennant flags. Vintage blue mason jars filled with summertime florals added a feminine touch.
The “Main Street” fun continued at Lucy’s Bat Mitzvah with guests lining up for caricatures, airbrush tattoos, and personalized sweat shirts! The night was capped off with a dippin’ dots vendor and an old-fashioned candy push cart with tin pail favors to fill with retro candy.
A complete list of vendors is featured at the end of this story.
