About The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island:

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI) coordinates a number of ongoing fundraising campaigns: donor acknowledgement programs (Walk of Love, Tree of Love, Heart Wall), a year-end appeal as well as a number of annual special events. Fundraising efforts have resulted in financial support from foundations, corporations, and individuals, as well as in-kind donations of important goods and services.

Contribution: RMH-LI offers a wonderful and fun hands-on Mitzvah Project for Bar/Bat Mitzvah children, which teaches them about community service and giving back, and draws upon the Mitzvot of giving and performing Tzedakah (charity) & Gemilut Chasadim (act of loving kindness).

Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidates can schedule a visit to come to the Ronald McDonald House during the week or on the weekend, invite friends and family (up to a group of 10), tour the House and see our mission first-hand. Then they will bake (cookies, brownies, etc.) for our families in one of our 8 kitchens. Pre or Post visit, the child will create an online fundraising page to help promote the RMH-LI, but more importantly discuss the meaning of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah project, how they are making a difference in the lives of those we serve and solicit online contributions, 100% of which will directly benefit the children and families who depend on the House That Love Built, every single day of the year. Contributions can also be collected offline and can also include items from our Wish List, which are items the House needs on a daily basis throughout the year.

We are a home-away-from-home for approximately 1,000 families per year.
