The Silverstein family from Weston, Florida celebrated their daughter Gabrielle’s (Gabby) Bat Mitzvah with a fashionably sweet themed celebration. Gabby wanted to include her two most favorite things: fashion and candy. The party, held at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Davie, Florida, dazzled party goers with many special DIY touches. Mom Heather started her own company, Gabbylicious Decor and More after creating much of the deliciously sweet and fashionable details.

Advice from Mom Heather
“The advice I would share is to enjoy every minute as it is over in a blink of an eye. I worked so hard for a year, and it felt like it went by in an hour. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Focus on the positives, not the negatives. In other words, focus on what went right, not what went wrong.”

RS Event Productions owner Randi Steinhart, CSEP shares a very creative celebration honoring Bat Mitzvah girl Claudia. She loves Sunday morning comics, so the creation of a comic strip character was the perfect way to incorporate this fun lovin’ teen’s personality. Mom Jamie is the Co-Founder of Flair Event Design + Planning and wanted to celebrate her daughter’s love of horses and county fairs.
Jamie and her business partner Julie lovingly styled this hoedown-themed Bat Mitzvah like a town out of the Old West. The venue, Long Branch Saloon and Farms in Half Moon Bay, California, served as a unique backdrop.

There were great toppings available as well
As the sign says, "Life Is Better Around a Fire Pit". There were small fire pits for guests to enjoy, make s'mores or just chat
Some Advice From Mom Jamie
The key to a super party is to make it Thematic! If you come up with a fun theme and blow it out, it sets the tone for the whole evening. To come up with a fabulous theme, think about what is special and unique to your Mitzvah kid or family—The ideas just flow from there.

iLLy Face is a new online marketplace for custom illustrated “selfie” shirts. We think these t-shirts would be a great favor or dance floor giveaway!
The idea is simple! Make the person you are celebrating feel like the center of attention all night long. The iLLy Face illustrator draws by hand the guest of honor’s face with complete likeness. The caricature is placed on a template with a special Bar or Bat Mitzvah message and then printed on t-shirts your whole party can enjoy.
As they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words!”
Start by choosing a shirt template, then upload the photo of your special guest, and select the shirt color and size you’d like
iLLy Face creates every shirt with state of the art digital printing techniques, ensuring each print is vibrant
Great as dancer t-shirts and dance floor giveaways too!

For Lexi and Julia’s Mitzvah Project, they worked with Ruff House Rescue, an organization on Long Island that rescues homeless pets suffering from abuse, neglect, and indifference. People sent donations and also dropped off dog beds, food, treats, etc. The family is still receiving donations and plans to bring them over soon. Also, the girls are helping to build a teen program to do community service for West Hills Torah Center. In fact, they are putting together an evening to sell baked goods with proceeds from this event going to a temple in St. Martin to help rebuild their community after Hurricane Irma.
Advice from Mom Mandi
“I’m typically a last minute person, but don’t wait to begin the planning process until the final months when it comes to this milestone event. Start gaining inspiration and ideas a year before your Mitzvah date from informative websites like Mitzvah Market, Pinterest, and Facebook and save them in a folder or an album. Make sure your kids feel like they’ve played an integral role in the decision process from venue choice and DJ to decor, floral and lighting design. It truly is more fun when you involve them! Try to make their dreams come true without breaking the bank! They will love the final product and feel much more accomplished. Envision how you want your family and friends to feel in the room, surrounded by love. Take a deep breath and a quiet moment to thank G-d and anyone else for the good fortune and blessing of having a child reach Mitzvah age. Make a promise to yourself and your kids that if anything goes wrong, you’ll all still have the time of your lives. Enjoy every precious minute of it and remember what it’s all about! I could not have planned and organized a more amazing evening without reading the many features from Mitzvah Market and going to the Celebrate! Showcases. I appreciate what Mitzvah Market is doing and can’t wait to help other moms in the same position!”

Some Advice from Mom Leigh
“Plan, plan, plan. I chose a hotel for the venue so that guests could stay over if they wanted and not worry about driving home the night of the party. I think hosting a Bar Mitzvah in a hotel is an amazing choice when you have out-of-town guests. I would suggest making sure you click with your party planner/decorator. Amber Gilbert from ECP went out of her way to ensure all details were perfect and allowed me to be part of the planning every step of the way. That meant so much to me! Many party planners don’t want to have their customers involved, but I wanted to be and she allowed me to be. I also hired her for the day of the party to help. That made a huge difference so I didn’t need to worry about a single thing. So worth the money! Spencer and I went to a local JDRF event for one of his very best friends and they had a silent auction for different items and services. We bid and won the balloon twisting and a video montage. It worked out so well since I ended up using the company that did the montage for video that day too. I liked the fact that they were generous and gave away services for that event. So we all donated to a great cause and was able to benefit on Spencer’s big day!”
Bar Mitzvah Project
For his Mitzvah Project, Spencer collected and donated money to the Epilepsy Foundation for his Mitzvah Project. Spencer suffered from seizures when he was younger. He hopes that he can help to find a cure of this awful disease.
