The Gilden family celebrated their son Joshua’s (Josh) Bar Mitzvah with a service at Temple Beth Sholom in New City, New York and a party immediately following at Season’s Catering in Washington Township, New Jersey. Josh, an avid skier, has been skiing since he was 2 years old and wanted that as the theme! Some of the special and creative decor included place card ski passes, DIY centerpieces and used ski equipment which all made this celebration even more special.
Pictured L-R: Mom Shari, Bar Mitzvah boy Joshua, Sister Maddie and Dad Lance.
Magic Moments was the photographer and the rest of the vendor information is listed at the end of the spotlight.

Cute themed signage for the water bottle table
Mitzvah Project
Josh’s religious school class as a whole is doing an on going Mitzvah project for the hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.
Advice from Mom Shari
“Organization is the key. Make lists and buy a folder with sections so you can file all your contracts in one place. If you know the colors and theme early on you can start ordering things and crossing items off your list. Following our good friend’s advice, I had made lists of pictures I wanted the photographer to capture, and a list for my DJ as well. On the day of the Bar Mitzvah, I was very calm and was able to fully enjoy the whole day knowing all was taken care of. We can say we took it all in. Josh was so amazing on the Bimah and all our guests did not stop dancing the whole day. It was such a magical day for our family and friends.”

Jamie & Julie of Flair Event Design + Planning created a party that friends and family flipped over at the Galleria, an event space located within the San Francisco Design Center. Bat Mitzvah girl Julia is a competitive gymnast and wanted to incorporate her love of the sport into her theme and her parents wanted to add a bit of “Cirque du Soleil” entertainment, the combination made this celebration a perfect 10!
Photography by Bustle & Twine.
Bat Mitzvah Decor

Instead of place cards, guest found their names at the “Seating Rotation” chart. Tables had names such as "Raise the Bar," "Dream Team" and "Go for the Gold"

Gail Steinberg Designs did a great job bringing Julia's love of gymnastics to life through the great silhouette cut out figures
The main party color was purple, Julia’s gymnastic team’s color. Aqua was the accent, Julia’s personal favorite. They looked beautiful together
Clear giant confetti balloons added to the festive feel

Melisa Imberman, of The Event Of A Lifetime, Inc. recently coordinated a college themed celebration. The Bar Mitzvah boy’s father grew up in Eugene, Oregon playing football at The University of Oregon. Once dad graduated and moved to New York he realized that he was the only Duck fan (The Oregon Duck is the University’s mascot) in the state, “a duck out of water.” So he raised his son Daniel to be a devoted Duck fanatic too! How perfect that the venue was the renowned New York City restaurant, Daniel.
Pictured above: The Pillette family all “throwing their “O” for Oregon.
Chad David Kraus was the photographer.
Bar Mitzvah Venue Entrance
The "Duck" surprised Danny by greeting him outside the restaurant upon his arrival!
Danny (Daniel) is a foodie so the iconic restaurant Daniel, bearing his name was the perfect venue to give his guests a culinary treat
Upon entering the restaurant there were awesome posters of the logos and Bar Mitzvah boy playing basketball displayed from the ceiling
Duck Bar Mitzvah Decor
Melisa Imberman worked with Hi-Tech Events on the decor incorporating the University of Oregon's school colors of green and yellow
A custom wall contained authentic basketball jerseys, logos and photos
of Danny. It was a great decor element and blocked the entrance to the kitchen!
Various custom centerpieces were used on alternating tables. This one used Danny's logos, green and yellow sneakers and the University of Oregon official basketball
A different centerpiece look
For the cocktail tables, mini cube centerpieces were used incorporating mini basketballs and logos
Special Party Details
The University of Oregon Basketball jersey place cards sat on bleachers. Check out the great photo of Danny who appears to be at the University’s Matthew Knight Arena
Guests signed-in on a autographed Oregon basketball in a custom display case
The custom menu
Food Fit For a Foodie
Since Danny is a foodie, it was important to him that there wasn't "kid" food. Here is the Nine Herb Ravioli with Tomato Confit
The kids were definitely not used to being served Black Angus Beef Tournedos at a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration!
The bottom tier of the cake looked like the wood floor of the basketball stadium. The 1st and 2nd tiers each had a different logo with the Duck mascot on top
Roving and Stationary Entertainment
The Selfie photo booth with a custom backdrop that made it appear like guests were taking a picture in the Matthew Knight Arena
Check out the custom photo album covers for photo favors
Young guests enjoyed a custom virtual reality basketball game!
A magician walked around and entertained guests
A roving Black Jack table kept the action moving
A strolling caricaturist went to guests
Mitzvah Montage
The clever entrance video and montage by Robert Goldblatt Films was played prior to Danny and the Duck entering, guests watched 13 For 13, a take-off on ESPN's 30 For 30. Watch
here
Bar Mitzvah Exit Treats and Favors
Guests were treated to chocolate covered Oreos that featured 2 of Danny’s logos. There were custom bottle water bottles with the University of Oregon’s logo “Win the Day”
Oreo's were beautifully packaged with an accent green ribbon
Favors for Danny’s guests included a dri-fit shirt, sports bag and Gatorade style water bottle
We thank Melisa Imberman and The Event of a Lifetime, Inc. for sharing this Bar Mitzvah with our readers.

The Fogelman family celebrated their daughter Ella’s Bat Mitzvah service at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, Massachusetts and later that evening with a party at the retro-cool The VERVE, a boutique hotel in Natick, Massachusetts. The theme of the celebration was “pERFfect,” which was a clever way to include the initials of her full name, Ella Rose Fogelman.

The word "pERFect" included the Bat Mitzvah girl's initials and was used on various decor elements like this custom menu
Ella's monogram was used as a 2nd logo throughout the party and looked chic on the place cards

The adult tables were alternating round and rectangles dressed in aqua sequin and platinum satin tablecloths
Centerpieces included cylinders with floating candles and small vases with white flowers
We love Ella's monogram on this custom made lampshade in the teen section

Sweatpants with the pERFect logo were rolled with personalized tags from Cutie Patootie. The note said: "We hope you had a pERFect night"
Ella's friends wearing their sweatpants while dancing on the stage
Mom Advice from Amy
“Know that nothing will run perfectly. There will be hiccups. Enjoy the day and the beauty of watching your child achieve such a milestone. A special moment was helping her change into her party dress in the room. It was nice to have some quiet time before the big night. There were some teenage “Party Crashers” from a party down the hall. We thought it was hilarious and went with it. Their photo is one of our favorite memories of the night. REMEMBER- nothing is going to be perfect!”
Mitzvah Project
Ella organized a clothing drive for a local charity, Cradles to Crayons that provides clothing to local disadvantaged children.
