Recently we told you about a talented Mitzvah Dad who produced an original music video for his son’s Bar Mitzvah. Click here if you missed it.
Now we have learned about another talented Mitzvah Dad who created custom invitations, place cards, magnet favors and thank you notes for his daughter Daniella’s Bat Mitzvah using watercolors and pencils!
The Dad, Moshe Mikanovsky goes through his step by step process on his blog, but you can see the finished result below:
He painted a portrait of his daughter Daniella and had it printed on heavy stock paper at a local printer
That same design was used for the place cards, thank you notes and custom magnet favors!

We are excited to bring you this Mitzvah Inspire as they reveal how they transformed Muttontown Club in East Norwich, New York into a contemporary candy factory with motorized centerpieces and candy galore.
Check out the details from “Will’s Wonka Bar” Bar Mitzvah celebration portrayed as the modern version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
As the guests headed into the ballroom, they walked through a hallway that was turned into a “Wonka Shipping Department” featuring boxes with labels on them from all over the world
An industrial looking Holographic dance floor separated the kids from the adults. The kids sat in a purely White lounge. The room was completely draped in White Chiffon which created a clean “canvas” for projecting a custom gobo with the Bar Mitzvah boy’s name – Will
Each table had its own whimsical and unique look from its shape, the linen, and the type of chair, to the colors used, and finally to the centerpiece
The banquet tables had glass cylinders and unique vases filled with a variety of candy. The rest of the tables had motorized candy producing centerpieces that were fully functioning and clearly revealed the mechanics of each piece.
To complete the industrial look, a conveyor system from the ceiling carried customized Wonka boxes throughout the entire adult’s section and from table to table
Custom artwork was created in the design of a Wonka bar for the kids light blue sweatshirt favors. T-shirts with matching logos were also made for the staff and dancers. Additionally, chocolate bars (5 of which had a winning golden ticket) were given to guests with 5 lucky winners redeeming a special prize

When we saw this “007” themed Bar Mitzvah courtesy of Diva With A Fork, and we knew our readers would love it!
The woman behind Diva With A Fork is Eileen Kanter, who owns Events By Eileen, a full-service event planning and design firm in Tampa, Florida. Over the past ten years, her company has created one-of-a-kind events for corporations, non-profits, individuals and celebrities.
Bar Mitzvah boy Brett is a fan of James Bond and all things 007. This was the inspiration for the bold design of this celebration!
An elaborate entryway influenced by the movie Casino Royale welcomed guests
We love the dual purpose place cards! These glow in the dark martini glasses were used as seating cards, as well as, party favors
James Bond always traveled in style, above and below shows the decked out children’s soda bar and buffet area

Your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah is just around the corner. Maybe you meant to start getting in shape sooner (like back in January) but it didn’t happen. But fear not. If you work hard now and set your mind to it, you can make big changes to your body in time.
Kick up your cardio workouts.
Aerobic exercise including bicycling, running, jumping rope, kickboxing, etc draw upon energy stores and are an excellent way to burn fat. You should do some form of cardio for 30-40 minutes 5 days a week. To get more out of your workouts, strive for three 30-minute interval training sessions each week. Interval training is short, high-intensity exercise periods alternated with periods of low intensity and a great way to burn a lot of calories. The
intensity should be raised above your comfortable level for a brief period, followed by a recovery period of lesser intensity. Interval cycles can range in time, length, and intensity. A typical duration might be 30 seconds of very high-intensity work, followed by one-and-a-half minutes of low-intensity recovery. For example, after you warm-up try running 1 minute on the treadmill at 6.0 mph, followed by jogging 90 seconds at 5.0 mph. Repeat this until you have completed 2 miles.
Get buff for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah
More than doing cardio, strength training is the most effective way to sculpt the body you desire! Minimize the (fill in the blank) jiggle by hitting the weights three days a week allowing 48 hours rest in between workouts. Choose a routine that combines upper and lower body moves. It will maximize your exercise efforts and minimize the time you spend in the gym. It’s all about training smarter, not longer. If you are feeling ambitious, design a circuit; do a series of exercises followed by 3 minutes cardio. You’ll raise the intensity of your workout, burn more calories and tighten up those trouble spots in one workout. A sample circuit might include: jump rope, squats, jumping jacks, push-ups, jog in place, shoulder press, jump rope, lunges, jumping jacks, and dips.
No time for strength training? No excuse!
In the time it would take you to mull over whether “to train or not to train,” you could be halfway through best body-blasting, inch-incinerating, time efficient sculpting session you have ever experienced. This 15 minute mini- workout reaps maximum results by pumping oxygen-rich blood through every major muscle group in your body. Believe me; your heart rate will prove it as will your fabulously fit physique, if you stick with the plan.
So what’s the plan?
The workout consists of 4 cycles of 7 different exercises, 1 for every major muscle group. Each cycle lasts 3.5 minutes, and each exercise is performed for 30 seconds per cycle. This brings the complete length of the workout to a whopping 14 minutes, of which each muscle group suffers a grand total of 1 minute.
What you do:
Perform repetitions (about 20) of each exercise for 30 seconds. Once you have completed all seven exercises repeat the 7-muscle cycle again. Please consult a certified fitness professional (or ME) if you are unsure about the proper form or technique of any these exercises below:
1. Squats
2. Push-ups
3. Lunges
4. Shoulder press
5. Bent over rows
6. Bicep curls
7. Triceps dips

Point to Ponder
Select weights that make the exercises challenging, but not impossible. If an exercise becomes too difficult, modify it. Remember, it’s better to modify an exercise than to risk getting injured. If after completing the 14-minute body blaster you still have a smidgen of time to spare, drop to the floor for a quick crunch-a-thon. Try to incorporate a variety of abdominal exercises such as reverse crunches, oblique crunches, and bicycles. Aim to crunch continuously for 3 to 5 minutes, or until you just can’t crunch no more!
Never underestimate the power of a workout, no matter how short
Just think, for a mere 14 extra minutes a day 4 days a week, you can add almost an hour of body revving activity to your weekly workout regime. Who knew it could be so easy?!

It used to be that tie dye brought on thoughts of the 1960’s and hippies, but we’ve seen lots of tie dye over the years and it’s become a popular theme or decor element for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.
We recently saw tie dyed roses that we fell in love with! We felt an inspire on this trend was in order.

We love it when a Mitzvah Mom lets us know about something special she saw at a Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration.
That was the case when Meredith Jacobs from Modern Jewish Mom attended Zach Freiman’s Bar Mitzvah last week.
Zach’s Dad is Scott Freiman, from Second Act Studio and is a composer and producer who mainly works in film and television. Zach is his middle child and he had already produced a terrific “mockumentary” for his first son’s Bar Mitzvah.
He told Mitzvah Market he wasn’t sure how he was going to top that, but he did it! With the help of Zach’s friends, this talented crew sung a song that Scott wrote specifically for him. They shot video at various locations, but the final cut of this original music video was revealed at his party during dessert.

The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s is located in Darien, Connecticut and is known throughout New England for their culinary excellence, peerless service and picturesque waterfront location.
The Kolberts celebrated their third and final Bat Mitzvah on January 16, 2011 for their youngest daughter Samantha at this venue, the same one they used twice before.

The Milbauer family from Rye Brook, New York celebrated their son Mitchell’s Bar Mitzvah on October 2, 2010 at Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel (KTI). Following services they were off to Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
A lover of hockey Bar Mitzvah boy Mitchell wanted a hockey theme party and they transformed Trump National into “Mitchell’s Square Garden.”

Daniel Florist and Events created the adults decor with hockey elegance. The kids sat in Mitchell’s VIP hockey lounge fully equipped with bleachers, lounge furniture and benches separated by hockey boards. The place cards were chocolate hockey pucks displayed on a plexiglass rink!
Mitchell’s lounge area was splashed with his favorite teams colors – the Rangers of course!

The Ives family celebrated their son Alex’s Bar Mitzvah on December 4, 2010. The service took place at Temple Beth El in Chappaqua, New York and the reception was held at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in the Mansion in West Harrison, New York.
Alex is a snow boarder and Mom Jen is a graphic artist and owns her own company, Chives Creative, so you know there were some very special touches at this party.

As part of his Mitzvah Project, Alex volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester. He teaches 3rd-5th graders how to play lacrosse. He also donated new and old lacrosse sticks to the club. In addition, Alex and his Dad delivered meals to the home bound elderly through City Meals on Wheels in New York City.
