
Kendall Gnat from Toronto celebrated her Bat Mitzvah service at Beth Tikvah Synagogue on October 15, 2011 followed by a luncheon and a celebration on October 16, 2011 at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
They had a candy theme using lime green, purple, hot pink and blue in their decor.

Smudge Designs created Kendall’s festive invite which set the tone for her celebration.
Kendall’s blue sparkly dress is from Nordstroms.
The Gnat family did something unique to let guests know where they were sitting.
Gumball bags were used as place cards for the young guests. The bags were then used to carry home prizes given out during the celebration
Mom Whitney made a huge gumball letter “K” (Size: 24”H x 17”W). She glued the gumballs on the large letter “K” that she bought at a Jo-Ann Fabric
Silicone candy bracelets were used as the place cards for the adults. Mom Whitney’s sister helped her make the gumball name tags that were attached to them
Sharlene Wilder, A Wilder Party was the party planner and created the pretty decor for the room at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
Centerpieces featured large light up globes with ribbons to resemble a lollipop, flowers around the base with rock candy sticks and old time candy sticks
Kids tables were long banquet style with purple table cloths
Adults tables were round with blue, green or pink table cloths. The head table had a pink rosette tablecloth
Bounce Entertainment provided the music entertainment with Aaron Schacter as the MC. For Kendall’s entrance, they surprised their guests with a flash mob which was choreographed by her dance studio and included the dancers, adult and young guests.
Kendall and her Dad Michael also had a choreographed father/daughter dance to Daughters by John Mayer
Kendall’s sign-in board, featuring young to old photos was created by her photographer Larry Zeligson.
Kendall’s candle lighting table was unique!
Ceramic love letters by Ivy Lane spells out Kendall and are filled with candy sixlets. The candle bases were filled with candy flowers
Half Baked Ideas created their cake
There were many extra special touches to make this celebration special.
Mom Whitney made two multi-tiered candy cakes that were on either side of the bar
After a night of lots of candy, they gave out custom toothbrushes
Whitney bought plastic colored soda glasses for the kids specialty drinks
The napkins had candy necklaces wrapped around them
Distinctive Photo Imaging was there for photo favors. Mom Whitney took a candy picture which they imported into a frame
Some advice from Mom Whitney:
“Include the Mitzvah child in the planning. It is all about them! Plan as early as you can so it doesn’t get stressful closer to the date.”
For Kendall’s Mitzvah Project, the family made centerpieces for their Kiddush luncheon. They were candy themed and included a Candyland board game, candy paper pads, pencils, cards and of course candy. Kendall then donated them to Jewish Family and Child for children living in shelters, and broken homes.
