Jared Ticktin celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on December 3, 2011 at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco with an evening party at Mission Bay Conference Center.
The theme was easy to figure out since Jared loves basketball. They had lots of unique touches and we thank them for sharing these ideas with our readers.
Scott Lasky of Scott Lasky Photography was their photographer and the rest of the vendor information is listed at the bottom.
L-R: Sister Chloe, Dad Stephen, Bar Mitzvah boy Jared, Mom Leslie and brother Ethan
The vellum invitation was created by The Desk Set.
Keeping with the basketball theme, the Ticktins created the below place card frames themselves.
The frames and NBA stickers were ordered online and then they printed out names and table numbers on 5×7 paper
The finished place cards!
Christina from Glow Event Design created the basketball decor for Jared’s celebration. His basketball logo was used in many elements of the decor. It was projected on the wall, used for his custom postage stamps, on the dance floor decal, stickers and thank you notes.
Jared’s personal collection of bobbleheads were used on the cocktail tables and the large basketball confetti was found on etsy.com
The jersey centerpieces were purchased by the Ticktin family and then donated to the San Francisco Boys & Girls Club
The room is ready for guests
Many pairs of Nike shoes and basketball centerpiece items were donated as well
The floor decal was created by a graphic designer
These basketball wristbands were found at Party City

A Toasty Melts truck provided the delicious grilled cheese for their guests
Here’s some Mom-to-Mom advice from Leslie: “Remember that the celebration is for your child’s hard work and dedication during this life cycle moment! It’s very easy to get caught up in the planning, and lose focus…I love the little details (basketball confetti, basketball cocktail napkins, orange candy for the buffet etc.) but being truly present during my son’s Bar Mitzvah service was my goal, and I am happy to say that I enjoyed every minute! (See if your rabbi will spend some time with your family immediately before the service, that was wonderful for us!) Jared was so poised on the bimah and he spoke beautifully while sending a great message to the congregation…and afterwards, we were thrilled to PARTY all night to help him celebrate with our family and friends.”
For his Mitzvah Project, Jared helped cook meals for Koret Family House, a non-profit guesthouse where families stay while their critically ill children receive treatment at UCSF Children’s Hospital.
The following vendors helped to make Jared’s celebration special. If you give any of these vendors a call, please make sure you mention you read about their services on MitzvahMarket.com.
