Having a theme for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah has always been popular and it can be reflected in many ways – through décor, food and entertainment. One Long Island family brought all their guests to Hawaii for their daughter Devyn’s Bat Mitzvah without ever leaving Long Island! We would like to thank Devyn and her family for writing in to share their special event with our readers.
Please continue reading to learn more details directly from this Mitzvah family on how a Hawaiian theme was incorporated with the DJ, decor and presentation and kept all their guests involved and enjoying themselves throughout the party.
A reminder that all vendor information will be listed at the bottom.

The reception was held at The Commack Hamlet Golf and Country Club. We dealt with Barry and Michelle, who were extremely professional and made the whole process easy and a pleasure. The facility was beautiful and the food was fantastic. We used Spitz and Peck for our flowers, centerpieces and decorations. We dealt with Wade, who is a true professional and has tremendous vision. The room looked very tropical and the centerpieces were huge and gorgeous.

The room set and ready for guests

To keep with the theme, we hired authentic Hula dancers from Polynesian Dance Productions. They were fantastic, and extremely reliable. They danced during the cocktail hour and also did a short performance during the adult dinner. Again, with the theme in mind, we had live orchid leis flown in from Honolulu the day before the party. “Lei Greeters” that were supplied by Polynesian Dance Productions mentioned above gave Leis to the guests as they arrived at the party.

Dancers from Polynesian Dance Productions
We hired Seth Kramer for our son’s Bar Mitzvah and had him again for this Bat Mitzvah, to perform his unbelievable magic throughout the cocktail hour and the party. Words cannot do justice to his talent and the fun he brings to the party. Our guests were mesmerized.

Above all else, our MC, DJ, and dancers were the glue that brought the whole party together and made it a huge success. We used Dance Jock Productions, with Scott Neglia as our MC. We used them for our son’s Bar Mitzvah two years ago. We would have nobody else do our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah but them! Scott is a veteran in the business and knows how to manage a party better than anyone I have ever seen. He paces the party perfectly. He keeps the party focused on the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child and family and not on himself, as too many MCs do. They played great music. The dancers were unbelievably talented and professional. Without a doubt, the highlight of the room was the LED dance floor and lighting supplied by Dance Jock. Dance Jock also supplied our games and activities for the children, and our photo booth. They are simply the best out there!!
