It’s November and if you are at any stage of thinking about or planning your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah, you need to visit one of the two upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah showcases – or even both!
On Sunday, November 13, 2011, ORT’s Party Planning Showcase will be held at the Huntington Hilton in Huntington, NY from 11:30AM – 4:30PM.
The following weekend, on Sunday, November 20, 2011, Celebrate Party Showcase will be held at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY from 12 noon – 5PM.
This is a great opportunity to meet a variety of Mitzvah vendors one on one. These vendors are there to answer your questions, provide you with information about what’s new and share their expertise with you.
The Mitzvah Market team have all planned our own children’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations and we know the thought of meeting multiple Bar/Bat Mitzvah vendors in one afternoon, under one roof can seem overwhelming, but here are a few tips to keep in mind before attending that will help make your trip a huge success!
1. ADDRESS LABELS: Almost every vendor at these showcases (and there can be over 100) will ask you for the same information. Why not bring along adhesive address labels, so all you have to do is peel one off and your info is complete!
2. DO YOUR HOMEWORK: It’s a good idea to check out which vendors will be present in advance and which types of services you are interested in. These are usually listed on the showcase Websites with links to those vendor’s sites. Check out the participating vendors for the upcoming ORT Party Planning Showcase here.
3. BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK: If you are further along in the planning process, and are ready to make some decisions and sign a contract, you should come prepared with your checkbook. Many of the vendors offer special discounts to those who sign the day of the showcase. This will give you the opportunity to save money and/or receive extras for the day of your party.
4. BRING THE KIDS/DON’T BRING THE KIDS: Many families wonder if they should bring the kids or leave them home. This is a very personal choice. You know your child best! On the one hand, it’s great to see what they like, but they will be tempted by all the great vendors and what they have to offer.
