One of the first things we all think about after receiving our child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah date is the invitation!
Ana Dolan strives to create elegant and beautiful invitations and paper items for all of her clients’ Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. If your event is not located in the tri-state (NY/CT/NJ) area, Ana can easily correspond with you by email, digital photographs and actual samples through the mail. From custom logos to one-of-a-kind invitations to ceremony siddurs and save-the-dates, Ana’s experience and design skills are a welcomed addition to any parent’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah planning process.
We asked Ana some questions so we could learn more about her business:
MM: What makes you a unique invitation expert?
AD: I strive to combine materials that are unique, whether it is cork paper with star anise seeds or real starfish place cards. I pride myself in customizing my designs to my Bar/Bat Mitzvah client’s exact vision. I think the fact that I meet with each and every one of my clients at their home or office gives me that extra edge in customer satisfaction and added personal touches.

MM: When did you decide to begin this line of work?
AD: After I designed my wedding invitations in 1998, friends started asking me to create invitations for them. I am grateful to my loyal customers, vendors and event planners that constantly refer me. I love the fact that each job is different and that I DO get to invent the wheel again and again. I am inspired by textures and sparkly things and am obsessed with typefaces.

MM: Tell us about your creative place card designs?
AD: I love designing unique place cards, something that every guest will see and use. From my “Find your photo” Facebook place cards to oversized name card checkers, the guests are welcomed with little tokens of art to start the festivities.
MM: Describe your ideal Bar/Bat Mitzvah client?
AD: My ideal Bar/Bat Mitzvah client is one who has a vision of what they want their event to look like and trusts me to convey their wishes through my invitations and paper items.

MM: What are some things Bar/Bat Mitzvah clients need to think about when hiring you for their child’s celebration?
AD: Though I can accommodate a very quick turnaround time, many clients need to keep in mind timing in submitting text (names, menu selections, addresses) so that we stay on track time wise and have a cushion for additions or changes before production starts (if they arise).

MM: What else should we know about Ana Dolan: Couture Invitations and Paper Items?
AD: I’m not a vendor that sells cookie cutter designs out of a catalog. I create each and every piece with my client’s vision and wishes in mind.
